Let’s talk about Venture Building: some excerpts from the meeting of 28 September 2023

Economic Development

On 28th September 2023, Italy & Partners helped organize a meeting between representatives of the main Italian and some European metropolitan cities (Rotterdam and Dublin) to share experiences on Venture Building and City Services.

The event was also an opportunity to pay homage to those present of Jonathan Reichental’s book “Data Governance for Dummies” which addresses principles, models and examples of data governance. The latter, in fact, are described within the text as a basic tool for starting a digital transformation capable of generating growth in the reference community.

It is no coincidence that Data Driven Policies are now an essential transversal tool in every application area, from tourism to welfare, as well as naturally for economic development.

A structured analysis of the data highlights how the phenomenon of venture building is growing in our country but has high mortality rates and, above all, is not yet part of public policies for economic and social development.

Therefore, the workshop on 28th September brought to the attention of the participants a key principle, namely that local authorities deal with these issues to push young entrepreneurs to take care of the emerging needs of local communities.

Some examples, such as those of the “Up!Rotterdam” and “SmartDublin” projects, show us today how the public institution can and must attract investors and new talents in order to encourage the economic growth of local realities directly from their inner layer.
